Named for the flock of Canadian geese that swoop over the property each morning and evening, Goose Hill Downs of Berea KY, is a tranquil place where you can rest your head. If you listen close enough you might even be able to hear the whooshing of their wings as they royally glide by.
Owners, husband and wife team Andy and Rene`, were raised with old fashioned Southern values and have built Goose Hill Downs on those same traditions. Whether it’s in the hearty country breakfast that Rene loves to cook up, the friendly suggestions about local activities or history of the area from Andy, or just watching the peacefulness of their farm animals, you are sure to find the comfort of a home away from home.
About Andy & Rene'
Rene' loves hospitality, whether it’s entertaining people, hosting events, or cooking an awesome breakfast with local produce and farm fresh eggs. She prides herself with going the extra mile in the quality of service she provides. Before opening the Bed & Breakfast she worked in the food hospitality business for 13 years and then eventually retired from the KY department of education school and community nutrition after 18 years. In her free time she loves horseback riding and calls their farm “a little hobby farm”.
Andy served the community of Madison County for 23 years. He worked in law enforcement for five of those years and served the remainder as a firefighter/EMS for the county. He is a jack of all trades, with interests in motorcycling, hunting, fishing, and really just being outdoors. He was an avid taxidermist, and would say that the old fashioned way of doing things is what interests him the most.
Goose Hill Downs Green Roots
The idea of running a bed & breakfast had been a dream of theirs for many years. In the beginning of 2010, that dream became a reality when they started designing and then finally constructing Goose Hill Downs. Built from the ground up, Andy and Rene' designed the home themselves, finishing it in September of 2011. Both being big believers in keeping the Earth clean, they built their home with the environment in mind, incorporating simple living as a core value at the bed & breakfast. The custom built energy efficient house is ENERGY STAR rated and the grounds feature many upcycled projects, including a cabin made entirely from reclaimed barn wood and tin. Cutting down on waste is a way of life at Goose Hill Downs, making it a perfect green tourism destination and ideal for those wanting environmentally friendly accommodations as well as the warm hospitality of country living.
